Project‑specific structure design, R&D

This client customises its services according to each customer. Their product also involves the use of auxiliary structures which are designed on a case‑by‑case basis and typically made of steel. They had settled for using traditional welded plate structures in the production process.

Suisto Engineering’s solid competence in production technology as well as our ability to apply modern methods and materials convinced the customer. We started cooperation. We quickly found common ground even though the customer was physically far away from us and from a different culture.

Our design cooperation led to replacing the steel auxiliary structure with a composite structure. The prior steel product was too slow to manufacture, expensive, and inaccurate in terms of target dimensions. The composite structure, produced using a new method, improved the production turnaround time. The composite structure also reduced both costs and product weight. Moreover, its shape corresponds better to the original design based on 3D measurements. This makes the final product a better match to the initial production information without having to compromise on the technical strength requirements.
